The ruel in Saunders v Vautier

Do trustees need court directions to act in accordance with the rule in Saunders v Vautier? See Rule https://mattersoftrust.co.nz/2018/08/27/beneficiaries-rule/

While the rule is simple and clear, the direction of the court should always be sought where there are strong elements of potential risk or prejudice against a beneficiary if the rule is applied. Keeping in mind that the giving of indemnity by beneficiaries is as good as the beneficiary who gives it and the Trustees will still be sued.
