Joint property into a discretionary trust

Would appreciate any comments or clarification on this. Clients own a property valued at £350,000 as joint tenants and wish to place the property into a DT. Technically they are putting £175,000 each into the trust, we believe no entry charges to IHT will occur, however as the trust assets will then be over the NRB, we believe 10 year and exit charges will apply.

We believe doing two trusts may resolve this but would appreciate any thoughts of a better way of dealing with this as the clients are adamant in wanting to settle the property into trust in lifetime.
